Throughout life, we’ve been told in one way or the other to care for and love the people around us. Being there in the time of need and investing time, effort and energy to support them. Of course, this is a social staple but it does come with terms and conditions.

Think back through your life and ask yourself, has it always been a two-way street? Expecting something in return every time you invest your effort and energy into someone isn’t the way to go. But protecting your energy and time is paramount for good health and longevity.

A simple way to do so is to invest exactly what is needed or what has been asked of you. Doing less will disappoint while doing more is often not valued. While exceptions do exist, more often than not, this is the case in most situations for both humans and brands alike.

Brands can protect their energy, efforts, time and resources by investing just the right amount into their brand assets, team, ambassadors, brand partners, customers, influencers and their brand community overall.

The saying ‘Everything in moderation’ applies rather well in this case. Consistency and longevity are always going to trump erratic brevity.

Like finances, it pays to recognise your energy, efforts, time and resources as a currency that requires planning, managing and investing.

Protect and cherish the intangible.
